01 — Web Design
Web design built around the business.
Good design gets attention. Good websites turn it into action. The difference is usually structure, not styling.
We start with what your customers need to understand and what you need them to do, then design the pages that get them there.
Based in Edinburgh, we work with businesses in the UK and internationally, with a process that works just as well in person or remotely.

How we shape the work
Content and visual design, working together.
Every successful design starts with a clear understanding of the content it needs to carry. Page goals, key messages and hierarchy create the foundation for a distinctive visual direction.
We consider what customers already know when they arrive, what questions they need answered and what will help them take the next step. Those answers shape the page order, headings and content flow.
Typography, spacing, colour, contrast, imagery and movement then bring that structure to life. The result feels distinctive while keeping the business and its customers at the centre.
Who we design for
Web design from Edinburgh, for businesses in the UK and internationally.
- Trades and home services
- Businesses that need to show the quality of their work, explain the area they cover and make requesting a quote straightforward.
- Professional firms
- Businesses whose customers research carefully before making contact and expect the website to reflect the quality of the team behind it.
- Hospitality and retail
- Customer-facing businesses that need practical details, offers and booking or enquiry routes to be clear and easy to use on a phone.
- Consultants and specialists
- Experts whose website carries much of their credibility and needs to explain a focused offer without making visitors work for it.
- Growing service companies
- Teams that have outgrown an older website which no longer reflects what they offer, who they serve or where the business is going.
- Organisations in the UK and internationally
- Projects run smoothly through calls, shared links and written feedback, with in-person meetings also available in and around Edinburgh.
What's involved
Every layer of the design.
- Information architecture
- What pages exist, what each one is for, and how someone gets from the homepage to the thing they came for. Decided before anything is drawn.
- Responsive layouts
- Layouts are shaped at phone width first and expanded carefully, creating a natural experience at every screen size.
- User experience
- Clear decisions per screen, obvious next steps and focused forms that respect the customer's time.
- Visual systems
- Type scale, spacing, colour and components defined once and reused, so the tenth page looks like it belongs with the first.
- Calls to action
- Placed at natural decision points and written to make the next step clear and relevant.
- Accessibility
- Real contrast ratios, keyboard navigation, sensible heading order and labelled form fields, built in rather than retrofitted.
- Mobile-first thinking
- Designed for visitors using phones and varied connections, keeping key content and actions easy to reach.
- Design consistency
- A documented system of patterns that keeps future pages visually consistent and easy to extend.
Conversion
A design that converts is mostly a design that's clear.
- Say what the business does in the first screenful, in plain words a customer would use.
- Answer the key questions customers consider before getting in touch: price, area covered, availability and credentials.
- Give each page one clear action, repeated naturally at the points where someone is ready to continue.
- Keep the enquiry route focused, with a form that is quick and straightforward to complete.
- Place authentic proof where it supports an important decision and builds confidence.

Who do you usually work with?
Ambitious businesses and organisations in the UK and internationally: trades and home services, professional firms, hospitality businesses, consultants and growing service companies that want their website to generate enquiries.
We are based in Edinburgh, so a fair amount of work is local, but most projects run perfectly well over email and calls wherever you are.
Do we have to meet in person?
Meeting in person is entirely optional. We are happy to arrange it in or near Edinburgh, while the full project process also runs smoothly through calls, shared links and written feedback.
What do you need from me to start?
A clear picture of the business, who your customers are, and what you want the site to achieve. Existing content, photos and brand materials if you have them.
Content can be supplied by your team or included as copywriting support, with the right approach agreed at the start of the project.
