How to contact us about your data

The quickest route is the enquiry form on this website. Tell us it is a data protection request and we will handle it as one.

What information we collect

When you submit the enquiry form, we collect the information you enter:

• Your name
• Your email address
• Your phone number
• What type of work you need
• The project details you write in the message field
• Your business name, if you choose to give it
• Your existing website address, if you choose to give it
• Your budget range
• Your preferred timeframe, if you choose to provide it
• Your confirmation that you have read this Privacy Notice

When Netlify delivers a page or receives a form submission, it also receives standard technical information. This may include your IP address, the date and time of the request, the page requested, browser and device information, and security or diagnostic data. We do not use this information to build marketing profiles or run visitor analytics.

We do not use tracking pixels, advertising cookies or behavioural profiling on this site. See the cookie policy for what the site does and does not store on your device.

Why we use it, and our lawful basis

• Enquiries and quotations. We use your details to reply, discuss the work and prepare a quotation. We rely on steps taken at your request before entering a contract and, for general enquiries, our legitimate interest in responding to people who contact us.
• Projects and client administration. If you go ahead, we use the information needed to deliver and manage the project. We rely on performance of the contract and legal obligations such as keeping tax and accounting records.
• Security and spam prevention. Standard technical data and form submissions are checked to protect the website, inbox and enquiry service from misuse. We rely on our legitimate interest in keeping those services secure and available.

We do not add enquirers to a marketing list and we do not send marketing emails on the basis of an enquiry.

What happens if you do not provide the information

You are not legally required to use the enquiry form. The fields marked Required are needed so we can identify the enquiry, reply safely and understand the request. The form cannot be submitted without them. You can leave fields marked Optional blank without affecting our response.

Who else sees it

We use a small number of service providers who process information on our behalf under written terms. They may only use it to provide their service to us.

• Netlify — Hosting and delivery of this website, storage of enquiry-form submissions, and automated spam screening through its subprocessors. Data may be processed in the United States and other countries under Netlify's data processing agreement and applicable UK transfer safeguards.
• Namecheap Private Email — Delivery and storage of messages sent to the Digital Freaks inbox, including enquiry notifications and replies. Data may be processed outside the UK under the provider's contractual and privacy safeguards.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers. We may disclose information where we are legally required to.

How long we keep it

• Enquiries that do not become projects: 12 months from the last contact.
• Client records: 6 years after the end of the engagement, to meet UK accounting and tax record requirements.
• Hosting and security records: only for as long as needed to deliver and secure the service, investigate abuse, and meet the provider’s legal and contractual obligations.

You can ask us to delete an enquiry sooner, and we will unless we are required to keep it.

Where your information is held

Netlify and our mailbox provider may process information outside the UK. Where a transfer is restricted by UK data protection law, we use the safeguards made available under the provider’s data processing terms, such as the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or approved contractual clauses and the UK addendum, as applicable.

Automated decisions

We do not use your information for profiling or make decisions about you solely by automated means. Form submissions are screened automatically for spam, but genuine enquiries can be reviewed if a submission is filtered incorrectly.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to:

• Ask what personal information we hold about you, and get a copy
• Have inaccurate information corrected
• Ask us to delete information we no longer need
• Ask us to restrict how we use it
• Object to processing that relies on legitimate interests
• Ask for information you gave us to be provided in a portable format, where that right applies

Exercising these rights is normally free, and we will normally respond within one month. The law allows more time for a complex request, in which case we will tell you. Use the enquiry form to make a request.

Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office, the UK supervisory authority for data protection, at ico.org.uk.

Changes to this notice

We will update this notice if what we do with personal information changes. The date at the top of the page shows when it was last revised.
